The fuel prices are sky rocking. Every is hassled as we have to burn more money for our daily travel. Many car owners are evaluating alternate fuels such CNG/LPG to save on their fuel costs. If you are also planning to install a CNG or LPG kit it’s may be a good idea and you will find many who will fit it in your car.
However, before fitting the kit you must also understand how it will impact your car’s insurance policy. While you might save on fuel cost, your insurance cost and coverages will also undergo some changes.
Endorsement on your RC
When you install a CNG/LPG kit in your vehicle, you have to pass it on your vehicle’s RC. This means you have to go to the RTO and inform them that, you have installed a kit so that they can mention the same in your vehicle’s registration certificate.
You have to submit application form, old RC, insurance copy, PUC copy, your KYC and bill for CNG/LPG kit installation. The RTO will examine your documents and fitness of your vehicle and then will endorse your RC book.
Endorsing your Insurance Policy
Once the new RC is available with endorsement, you have to now do endorsement in your vehicle’s existing insurance policy. Here again you have to submit application for endorsement to your insurance company with new RC copy, invoice of CNG/LPG fitting. Insurance company will verify details and then issue the endorsement copy of insurance policy.
Government gives licence to vendors for selling and installing CNG/LPG kits. If you fit the kit in your vehicle from these authorised vendors, many of them take care of the endorsement on RC.
Fitting kits from authorised vendors makes the endorsement process easy and convenient.
