Aadhaar is a unique 12 digit number issued by UIDAI-Government of India to all the residents of India. It carries Govt. of India name and official logo and the document has a lot of trust among general public in India. As per Government of India, Aadhaar is widely accepted both as identity and address proof. A common man will have at least Aadhaar if he/she does not have any other document.
UIDAI has separated Aadhaar issued to Kids below 5 years as it is issued without capturing the biometric details of kids and mostly issued in conjunction with mother’s details. Aadhaar card issued to kids below 5 years is named as Baal Aadhaar. The colour of Baal Aadhaar is kepy as Blue to give it a different identity from the Aadhaar of adults, so it is also popular as Blue Aadhaar.
How & where to apply for Baal / Blue Aadhaar ?
- Apply off-line at the Aadhaar Centre
- Go to the nearest Aadhaar enrollment centre with your child.
- Fill and handover the application form.
- They will key in the details in system and ask for parents biometrics. Child’s biometric is not captured for Baal Aadhaar as highlighted before.
- Collect acknowledgement. Baal Aadhaar will be issued and will be received as the address provided within few days.
- No fees charged for Baal Aadhaar issuance.
- Apply on-line at the comfort of your home
- Visit UIDAI website www.uidai.gov.in. Go to Aadhaar Card Registration for new registration. Fill up the details of the child & parents.
- Select the time slot for appointment and submit the application. You will receive the confirmation on registered mobile number and email ID.
- Visit the Aadhaar Centre on the appointment date and time for verification of original documents and capture of parent’s biometric.
- Post verification Baal/ Blue Aadhaar will be received within few days.
You can also track the application status online whether you have applied physically or online to know the progress.
Once kids attend 5 years or above, this Baal / Blue Aadhaar can be updated with Kids biometric and any change in other details at the nearest Aadhaar centre.
